3-Part Trade Webinar Series:
Customs, Export & Cargo Security
PAEI and George R. Tuttle Law Offices are pleased to announce a webinar series on import and export compliance, and CBP trade security programs. These sessions are intended to provide an introduction to and foundation for further understanding each subject, and are perfect for new employees or refresher training for your staff. Each two hour session will review critical import or export topics, and help you navigate through these complex regulatory requirements.
Session One: Customs Compliance
Wednesday, September 9, 2009 (10 AM – 12 PM)
Understanding what is expected of an importer and its responsibility in the customs transaction is critical to maintaining a healthy and efficient supply chain. A lack of understanding in any one of these critical areas can result in increased examinations, detentions, increased duties, audits and penalties. Successful importing companies use their entire supply chain to ensure strong trade compliance and build strong internal controls. This two-hour session will provide an introduction to and foundation for further understanding of:
- Entry/ Documentation/ Liquidation
- Valuation
- Classification
- Recordkeeping
- Country of Origin and Marking
- FTAs and Special Classes of Merchandise
- Other Governmental Agency Import Requirements
- Penalties/ Liquidated Damages
- Internal Controls And Best Practices
Session Two: Export Compliance
Wednesday, September 16, 2009 (10 AM – 12 PM)
In this two-hour session, you will learn about your responsibilities as an exporter and potential exposures for non-compliance; how to ascertain whether an export license is required and whether a license exception is available or no license is required. This program will provide an introduction to and foundation for further understanding of:
- Exporter Responsibilities
- Key Agencies governing export
- The 10 general prohibitions of the EAR
- Classification of items on the Commerce Control List
- Determining Licensing Requirements based on ECCN
- Census Requirements Related to AES
- Internal Controls And Best Practices
Session Three: Trade Security
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 (10 AM – 12 PM)
Our third and final session will address the critical issues related to cargo security in the supply chain, focusing on Customs’ voluntary C-TPAT program and the new mandatory Import Security Filing (ISF) program. This two-hour session will provide an introduction to and basics of participation in each program.
You may sign up for one, two or all three of these programs. Registration will close at 4 pm the day before each session.
