U.S. laws require most textile and wool products to have a label listing:
- the fiber content,
- the country of origin, and
- the identity of the manufacturer or another business responsible for marketing or handling the item,
Fur products are subject to their own requirements, including animal name, country of origin etc.
Most garments are also required to bear care labeling. Manufacturers and importers who need to draft care labels should consult with the FTC publication: Writing a Care Label: How to Comply with the Amended Law.
